Short selling updateOn 14 November 2008, ASX released a list of the financial stocks (PDF 60KB) that will continue to be subject to the ASIC ban on short selling until at least 27 January 2009. On 12 November 2008, ASX released a market circular (PDF 72KB) detailing the requirements for disclosure and reporting of short sales after the lifting by ASIC of the ban on covered short selling. On 21 October 2008, ASIC extended the ban on covered short selling of ASX-listed securities. The ban will be maintained for non-financial stocks until 18 November 2008 and for financial stocks until 27 January 2009. Please visit the ASIC website for more information.
